Belgian Block & Curbing in Brick, NJ

Belgian block curbing for driveways, sidewalks and beds. Serving Brick homeowners — owner-led by Manasses Ribeiro, NJ HIC #13VH10566200.

Belgian Block & Curbing for Brick homes

Brick's bay and river neighborhoods need hardscape built for sand, high water tables and salt air — plus new steps and walkways for homes raised after Sandy.

Built for Brick ground

Much of Brick sits on sandy soil. Sand drains quickly, which helps under belgian block & curbing, but it doesn't hold its shape on its own. We compact the subgrade before any stone goes in, build the base in lifts and lock every edge with restraint, so the surface doesn't spread at the sides or dip where people walk and drive.

Belgian block is the granite curbing you see on so many New Jersey streets and driveways. It gives a hard, clean edge that stands up to tires and snowplows and makes a plain asphalt or concrete driveway look finished.

Where we use it

  • Driveway edges and aprons. It protects the driveway’s edge from crumbling and gives it a clean line.
  • Sidewalks and lawns. It separates hardscape from grass, as in the sidewalk project on this page.
  • Garden beds. It’s a durable border that won’t rot or heave like plastic or wood edging.

How it’s set

Each block is set in a concrete base, aligned to a string line, and backed with concrete on the soil side. That’s what keeps a curb line straight after years of plowing.

FAQ

Belgian Block & Curbing in Brick: common questions

Why set Belgian block in concrete?

Curbing takes hits from tires and snowplows. Setting each block in a concrete base with concrete backing keeps the line straight and stops blocks from rolling out.

Can you add Belgian block to an existing driveway?

Yes. We cut a clean edge along the existing driveway and set the curbing against it. It's one of the most cost-effective upgrades for an asphalt driveway.

Do you replace curbing damaged by plows?

Yes. We reset or replace damaged sections and match the existing line as closely as the stone allows.

My house was raised. Can you build new steps and a landing?

Yes. Raised homes often need taller steps, landings and new walkways tied back to the driveway. We build them in pavers or stone veneer with consistent riser heights.

Does sandy soil need a different base?

Sand drains well but shifts easily. We compact the subgrade, build a dense stone base and lock the edges with restraint so the surface holds its shape.
